In Southwest Atlanta, there's a café where the coffee is rich, the wine flows freely, and the atmosphere wraps around you like a warm embrace. BOSK Coffee & Wine isn't just a place to grab a latte or share a bottle, it's a third place, a space outside of work and home where community thrives, connections deepen, and Black women are centered and celebrated.
Owned by sisters Narie and Nako Roberson (formerly known as "The Sisters"), BOSK opened in November 2023 as the realization of a shared vision: to create a legacy rooted in ownership, connection, and curating experiences that reflect the magic they carry every day.
"BOSK Coffee & Wine is more than a café, we are a space where Black women, culture, and community are centered and celebrated," the sisters share. "As sisters, we are intentionally building a legacy rooted in ownership, connection, and curating experiences that reflect the magic we carry every day." That intention shows up in every detail, from the thoughtfully curated wine list featuring Black Girl Magic wines, to the monthly events that bring people together, to the very name itself: BOSK, which stands for Building On Success Kindly.
Two Sisters, Two Businesses, One Shared Vision
Before BOSK Coffee & Wine, entrepreneurship was already woven into the fabric of who Narie and Nako are. As sisters, they've both built thriving businesses from the ground up. Narie as the owner of a successful hair salon, and Nako as a publisher and national best-selling author of over 70 books.
Their entrepreneurial journeys have always been driven by a shared passion for ownership, creativity, and building something that lasts beyond them.
"For us, it is bigger than business," they explain. "It is about generational wealth, legacy, and showing other women what is possible when you bet on yourself."
That commitment to legacy and representation didn't start with BOSK—it's been there all along. But opening the café allowed the sisters to channel their gifts in a new direction: creating physical space for community and connection.
"We have always had a gift for bringing people together and curating experiences that make people feel seen and celebrated," they share. "That shows up through the curated experiences we host, from intimate wine tastings and creative workshops to gatherings that bring people together in meaningful ways."
Creating Southwest Atlanta's Third Place
The concept of a "third place", a social space separate from home (first place) and work (second place), has become increasingly rare in modern life. Yet it's more needed than ever. BOSK Coffee & Wine has stepped into that role for Southwest Atlanta, becoming a gathering spot where people can unwind, connect, and feel at home.
"We wanted to create more than a place people visit," Narie and Nako explain. "We wanted to create an atmosphere where people can unwind, connect, and feel at home."
Since opening in November 2023, BOSK has become exactly that. The café hosts monthly events including writer meet-ups, calligraphy classes, floral workshops, and wine tastings. They support Black-owned and female-operated businesses by providing opportunities for entrepreneurs to showcase their products within their space.
"At its core, BOSK Café & Wine is a community hub designed to bring people together," the sisters say. "We intentionally create space for conversation, creativity, and connection through curated experiences."
The principle of Building On Success Kindly guides everything they do. from how they serve guests to how they collaborate with other businesses to how they show up for their neighborhood.
A Natural Partnership: Sisters Supporting Sisters
When Narie and Nako discovered Black Girl Magic Wines, the connection was immediate and profound. Here was a wine brand also founded by sisters, the McBride Sisters, who were building something beautiful rooted in sisterhood, excellence, and legacy.
"Discovering Black Girl Magic Wines felt aligned long before it became a partnership," the sisters recall. "It felt like a reflection of who we are."
The resonance went beyond the fact that both businesses were sister-founded. It was about shared values, shared experiences, and a shared commitment to excellence and representation in spaces where Black women have been historically underrepresented.
"As sisters building BOSK together, we have always been intentional about curating experiences that feel personal, elevated, and warm," they explain. "When we came across a wine brand also founded by sisters, it immediately resonated with us. It wasn't just about the wine. With Black Girl Magic, it was about the story, the bond, and the legacy behind it."
For Narie and Nako, wine represents conversation, celebration, and shared moments—all things that sit at the heart of what BOSK is about. Black Girl Magic Wines embodies those same values while also representing Black excellence and ownership in an industry where representation matters.
"Choosing to carry the brand was natural because The McBride Sisters Wine Company aligns with our values and the experience we want to create," they say. "It means a lot to feature a Black-owned wine brand that reflects who we are as women, sisters, and builders creating something meaningful together."
The BOSK Wine Experience
At BOSK Coffee, Wine and Tapas, the sisters currently carry Black Girl Magic Red Blend, Rosé, Riesling, and Sparkling Brut, though they'll tell you that Rosé is their favorite.
"This is the one we naturally reach for when friends and family stop by," they share with a smile.
When it comes to pairings, the sisters recommend sharing a few dishes to enhance the wine experience. Customer favorites include:
- Cauliflower bites - perfectly crispy and flavorful
- Salmon bites - fresh and satisfying
- Classic Caesar salad - a timeless pairing
- Fries: because as the sisters say, "Fries are never a bad idea! They pair well with everything."
The approach to pairings reflects the BOSK philosophy overall: keep it approachable, keep it shareable, and make it an experience that brings people together. Wine at BOSK isn't about pretension or gatekeeping, it's about creating moments worth savoring with the people you care about.
Building Legacy, One Experience at a Time
For Narie and Nako, BOSK represents more than a successful business venture. It's a testament to what's possible when Black women bet on themselves, support each other, and create with intention.
"Black entrepreneurship deserves to be seen, supported, and celebrated because it represents resilience, legacy, and the ability to create opportunity," they emphasize.
The sisters are acutely aware that Black-owned businesses are often overlooked despite the innovation and excellence they bring to their communities and industries. That's why visibility and support matter so much—and why they're committed to using BOSK as a platform to elevate other Black-owned and female-operated businesses.
"For us, building BOSK is about more than business," they share. "BOSK is about creating a space where community, culture, and connection thrive."
Through their monthly events, partnerships with other entrepreneurs, and the daily experience they create for guests, Narie and Nako are building something that extends far beyond the walls of their café. They're building community. They're building representation. They're building legacy.
"By sharing our story, we hope people see what's possible when passion meets purpose and understand the importance of intentionally supporting Black businesses," they say. "We are building not just for ourselves, but for our community, for representation, and for the next generation to see that they can create something meaningful and lasting."
