In Inglewood, California—the City of Champions, home to SoFi Stadium, the Kia Forum, and Intuit Dome, there's a wine bar that's become more than just a destination. It's a cultural anchor, a safe space, and a testament to what happens when lifelong residents invest in the community that raised them.
Welcome to 1010 Wine and Events, owned and operated by siblings Leslie and Le Jones. As a Black and women-owned establishment, 1010 isn't just serving wine; it's curating exceptional experiences that celebrate culture, community, and ownership, while intentionally creating space for Black producers and stories to be seen, tasted, and valued.
"We are building connection, legacy, and economic impact through every bottle," shares Leslie Jones, co-owner alongside her brother Le.
That philosophy isn't marketing speak. It's the foundation upon which 1010 was built, and it shows in every detail, from their extensive wine list featuring one of the largest selections of Black-owned wines in California, to their commitment to hiring locally and partnering with community organizations.
Coming Home to Build Something Extraordinary
For Leslie and Le Jones, opening 1010 Wine and Events in their hometown wasn't just a business decision; it was a calling. As lifelong Inglewood residents, they witnessed their neighborhood's transformation and saw an opportunity to contribute something meaningful to the community's growing culinary landscape.
"We created 1010 Wine & Events to bring something extraordinary to the neighborhood that raised us," Leslie explains. "More than a wine bar, 1010 is a celebration of culture, community, and culinary excellence."
The vision was clear from the start: create a welcoming space where wine lovers and food enthusiasts, from seasoned connoisseurs to first-time explorers, could gather, connect, and indulge in thoughtfully curated offerings. A place where luxury and community could coexist. Where residents could feel seen, celebrated, and proud that something elevated exists right here at home.
As the only wine bar in Inglewood, the Jones siblings understood the responsibility that came with that distinction. They weren't just opening a business; they were becoming a cultural anchor in a neighborhood experiencing rapid change.
A Fateful Introduction to the McBride Sisters
In February 2020, before 1010 Wine and Events officially opened its doors, Leslie's best friend's mother took her to a life-changing event in Downtown Los Angeles. The McBride Sisters were hosting, and Leslie's friend knew that the Jones siblings were in the process of opening their wine bar. She wanted Leslie to connect with Robin and Andréa personally.
That introduction changed everything.
"The event was vibrant, intentional, and full of energy," Leslie recalls. "I had the opportunity to meet Robin and Andréa and taste the wines firsthand. Beyond the quality in the glass, I was struck by the story: two Black women building an internationally respected wine brand rooted in sisterhood, excellence, and cultural pride."
The connection was immediate and profound. Here were two Black women who had built something extraordinary in an industry where Black ownership was drastically underrepresented. Their success wasn't just inspiring—it was a blueprint.
"From that moment, I knew that when we opened 1010 Wine, we would carry Black Girl Magic Wines," Leslie says with conviction.
For Leslie and Le, featuring Black Girl Magic Wines means representation at the highest level. It signals to their guests, especially young Black women, that they belong in luxury spaces, in global markets, and in rooms that have historically excluded them.
"For me, carrying their wines is both business and legacy," Leslie emphasizes. "It's about circulating dollars within our community, elevating excellence, and making sure that when someone walks into 1010, they see themselves reflected not only in the room—but on the wine list."
The Black Girl Magic Experience at 1010
At 1010 Wine and Events, the Black Girl Magic wines aren't just on the menu, they're thoughtfully paired with dishes that elevate the entire dining experience.
Currently, 1010 carries Black Girl Magic Moscato and Black Girl Magic Riesling, each paired with dishes from their globally inspired menu crafted from quality ingredients.
Black Girl Magic Riesling finds its perfect match with 1010's Spinach Artichoke Dip, the wine's crisp acidity and bright fruit notes cutting through the creamy richness while complementing the earthy artichoke flavors.
Black Girl Magic Moscato pairs beautifully with their Piri Piri Half Chicken, the wine's slight sweetness balancing the spicy, tangy piri piri sauce while refreshing the palate between bites of succulent chicken.
These pairings reflect the intentionality that defines everything at 1010. Nothing is arbitrary. Every selection, every pairing, every detail is designed to create an exceptional experience that honors both the wine and the cuisine.
More Than a Wine Bar: A Community Anchor
As the only wine bar in Inglewood, Leslie and Le operate with a deep understanding that their success is directly tied to the well-being of the community they serve. That's why reinvesting in local education, healthy living, and entrepreneurship is central to their mission.
1010 shows up for Inglewood in tangible, meaningful ways. They partner with local nonprofits, host fundraisers, offer their space for community meetings, and create programming that reflects the culture of their neighborhood. They prioritize hiring locally, spotlighting Black-owned wine brands, and collaborating with small businesses so that economic impact circulates within the community.
In a neighborhood experiencing rapid change and development, 1010's role is critical. They serve as both a cultural anchor and a safe space, a place where long-time residents can celebrate what Inglewood has always been, while welcoming visitors and introducing them to the richness of the city's culture.
"When guests walk through our doors, we want them to feel warmth, intention, and excellence, as they've stepped into a space where luxury and community coexist," Leslie shares. "Our goal is simple: exceptional wine, meaningful connection, and a lasting sense of belonging."
That sense of belonging extends to the full 1010 experience. The atmosphere is elevated with live music and DJs. Weekend brunch features bottomless mimosas. Happy hour invites guests to unwind, connect, and savor the moment. The menu offers artisanal charcuterie boards, fresh oysters, and flavorful seafood plates alongside those perfectly paired entrees.
Why Black Entrepreneurship Matters
For Leslie and Le Jones, spotlighting Black entrepreneurship isn't just important—it's personal. Their parents instilled in them at a young age the importance of supporting Black-owned businesses, not just as a preference, but as a responsibility.
"They taught us that where we spend our money is a reflection of what we value and who we're willing to invest in," Leslie reflects.
That lesson has shaped how the Jones siblings operate 1010. Their wine list features one of the largest selections of Black-owned wines in California—a deliberate choice that goes beyond curation to become a statement of values.
"Black entrepreneurs have always created excellence, often without equal access to capital, distribution, or visibility," Leslie explains. "By intentionally amplifying Black-owned businesses, we help close wealth gaps, strengthen our communities, and normalize ownership at the highest levels."
When 1010 highlights Black founders, winemakers, and creators, they're doing more than filling a wine list. They're building legacy and generational opportunity. They're showing young people in Inglewood that ownership is possible, that excellence is attainable, and that spaces of luxury can, and should, reflect the community they serve.
Legacy in the City of Champions
Inglewood has always been a city of champions, and 1010 Wine and Events embodies that spirit. In a rapidly evolving neighborhood, Leslie and Le Jones have created something that honors Inglewood's past while contributing to its future.
They've built a space where a first date can feel special, where a business meeting can happen over excellent wine, where friends can gather for bottomless brunch, where the community can come together for fundraisers and celebrations. A place that's elegant enough for special occasions but welcoming enough to become your regular spot.
Most importantly, they've created a business that reflects their values, one that circulates dollars within the Black community, elevates Black-owned brands, provides local employment, and invests in the neighborhood's well-being.
"At its core, our business is about curating exceptional wine experiences that celebrate culture, community, and ownership, while intentionally creating space for Black producers and stories to be seen, tasted, and valued," Leslie says. "We are building connection, legacy, and economic impact through every bottle."
That's not just a philosophy. That's a promise being kept every single day at 1010 Wine and Events.
When you raise a glass of Black Girl Magic wine at 1010, you're participating in something bigger than a transaction. You're supporting two Black women-owned businesses. You're investing in Inglewood's future. You're celebrating the kind of excellence that happens when community members come home to build something extraordinary.
