From Saint Lucia to New York to Kingston to Atlanta, Tasha Belle Cyril has carried one gift with her across continents and cities: the ability to create spaces where people feel genuinely welcomed, celebrated, and at home. With over 16 years of hospitality experience and a passion for sharing Caribbean culture through food, music, and connection, Tasha has built not one, but multiple essential destinations in Atlanta that bring the vibrant energy of the islands to the heart of the South.
As the Founder of The Tasha Belle Hospitality Group, Tasha owns and operates Apt 4B in Buckhead and J'ouvert Caribbean Kitchen & Bar, her most ambitious project yet. Both restaurants pour Black Girl Magic wines, celebrate Caribbean culture with intention, and create experiences that feel elevated while remaining deeply rooted in comfort and genuine hospitality.
"As a Caribbean woman originally from Saint Lucia, serving others is deeply rooted in who I am," Tasha shares. "I wanted to create spaces that feel vibrant, warm, culturally immersive, and community-driven. Spaces where people can genuinely connect over food, music, cocktails, and energy, and be their full selves."
A Journey Rooted in Hospitality
Tasha's journey in hospitality began humbly in New York City, where she worked at Negril Chelsea while pursuing a bachelor's degree in forensic psychology. Even then, the seeds of entrepreneurship were planted. She understood the power of creating experiences, of making people feel seen and cared for through service.
Her entrepreneurial spirit led her beyond New York, first to co-own a restaurant in Kingston, Jamaica, then a nightclub in Saint Lucia. Each venture taught her something new about hospitality, about community, and about what it takes to build something lasting.
In 2017, Tasha moved to Atlanta and quickly made her mark on the city's culinary scene. She partnered to open Ms. Icey's, followed by Apt 4B in 2020, a concept that would become one of Atlanta's most talked-about destinations.
Apt 4B: Where Vinyl Meets Modern Caribbean
Located in the heart of Buckhead, Apt 4B is unlike anywhere else in Atlanta. Described as "savvy, eclectic, intimate and funky," the restaurant fuses a vinyl bar (boasting the largest vinyl collection in Atlanta) with modern Caribbean cuisine, creating an atmosphere that's simultaneously classic and contemporary.
"Come on over to our place!" is the invitation Apt 4B extends and it feels exactly like that. Not a restaurant you're visiting, but a space you're welcomed into.
The vibes shift throughout the day: sexy dinners, energetic brunches, socializing happy hours, and people-watching at the bar. Chef Day, Haitian by birth and global citizen by intention, serves up inventive dishes like oxtail hummus and snapper ceviche that remix Caribbean standards with global influences to create something "new, familiar and otherworldly, all at the same damn time."
Since opening in 2020, Apt 4B has garnered significant press attention, including features in Food & Wine ("APT 4B's Dayana Joseph Brings Upscale Afro-Caribbean Fare to Atlanta"), Departures (highlighting Black chefs and the importance of gathering), and The Atlantan ("Newly Bowed Apt 4B Brings Modern Caribbean To Atlanta").
The accolades matter, but what Tasha has built goes deeper than recognition. She's created a cultural destination, a place where the diaspora gathers, where vinyl spins stories, and where Caribbean flavors meet innovative techniques.
J'ouvert: Where Every Meal Is a Vibe
In spring 2024, Tasha unveiled her most ambitious project: J'ouvert Caribbean Kitchen & Bar. Named after the joyful, liberating energy of Caribbean Carnival celebrations, J'ouvert embodies everything Tasha believes a restaurant should be.
"At J'ouvert, every meal is a vibe," the restaurant's ethos declares. "Rooted in the joyful energy of Caribbean Carnival, we bring bold island flavors, colorful plates, and a welcoming atmosphere that feels like home."
Located at 558 Main Street NE, J'ouvert serves bold Caribbean flavors, from oxtail to jerk chicken to fried snapper—in an atmosphere filled with good food, good music, and good energy, always. The menu celebrates the flavors that define Caribbean cuisine, whether guests are joining for a casual bite, weekend brunch, or date night.
The restaurant hosts Happy Hour (Tuesday-Friday, 5-8pm with $5 specials), Saturday Brunch Buffet ($30 bottomless buffet or $50 with mimosas), Date Night Saturdays ($100 per couple to share, sip, and savor together), and Sunday Funday Brunch with live DJs.
But beyond the programming, J'ouvert represents Tasha's vision fully realized: a space where Caribbean culture is shared authentically through cuisine, visuals, and soulful music, while prioritizing exceptional service and creating a welcoming sense of community.
The Black Girl Magic Connection
When Tasha discovered Black Girl Magic Wines, the alignment felt natural and immediate.
"Discovering Black Girl Magic Wines felt naturally aligned with our values as a business," she reflects. "Representation matters, especially within industries where Black ownership has historically been underrepresented."
At both Apt 4B and J'ouvert, Tasha's commitment to representation goes beyond rhetoric it's built into the wine list itself. All of the red and white wines featured on both menus are intentionally Black-owned brands.
"Supporting and showcasing Black-owned wine companies allows us to be intentional about where we spend, who we amplify, and the stories we share with our guests," Tasha explains.
Currently, both restaurants carry Black Girl Magic Moscato, Riesling, and Red Blend, each thoughtfully paired with dishes that highlight their best qualities.
Perfect Pairings: Black Girl Magic Wines Meet Caribbean Flavors
Tasha and her team have created pairings that showcase how beautifully Black Girl Magic wines complement Caribbean cuisine's bold, layered flavors.
Black Girl Magic Moscato and Riesling pair especially well with the seafood dishes across both menus, particularly those featuring Caribbean spices and rich flavors. The wines' bright acidity and fruit-forward character cut through heat and richness while complementing the complexity of island seasonings.
"Guests love enjoying them during brunch, date nights, and celebratory dinners with friends," Tasha shares.
Black Girl Magic Red Blend stands up beautifully to heartier dishes like braised oxtail and curry goat, the wine's smooth, approachable character matching the depth and richness of slow-cooked, spice-forward Caribbean classics.
These pairings aren't accidental. They reflect Tasha's understanding that wine should enhance the dining experience, not complicate it. The BGM wines are approachable, versatile, and excellent, just like the restaurants themselves.
The Family Table: Beyond the Restaurant Walls
For Tasha, showing up for community goes beyond serving great food and wine. Through The Family Table, a once-a-month community initiative, she's dedicated to feeding families with integrity and love.
Combined with local partnerships and events, Tasha creates impact that extends well beyond the walls of Apt 4B and J'ouvert.
"Community has always been close to my heart," she says. "We want guests to feel welcomed, celebrated, and cared for whenever they walk through our doors. Whether someone joins us for brunch, happy hour, dinner, or a community event, we want them to feel a genuine sense of connection and warmth."
That warmth is palpable. It's in the greeting when you walk in. It's in the care taken with every dish. It's in the music selection that makes you feel like you're back on the islands. It's in the intentionality behind every Black-owned wine on the menu.
Why Black Entrepreneurship Matters
As a proud Black restaurateur and Caribbean woman building in Atlanta, Tasha understands firsthand the importance of visibility, support, and intentional amplification.
"Spotlighting Black entrepreneurship is important because our businesses often create culture, jobs, opportunity, and community while overcoming unique challenges behind the scenes," she explains.
Those challenges are real, access to capital, distribution networks, visibility in crowded markets, and the weight of representation. But Tasha doesn't let challenges dim her vision or commitment.
"The more we intentionally support and amplify one another, the more we create pathways for future generations of Black entrepreneurs to thrive," she emphasizes. "Supporting Black-owned businesses is not just about visibility, it's about creating sustainability, ownership, and lasting impact within our communities."
Building an Essential Atlanta Experience
With over 16 years in hospitality, multiple successful restaurant ventures, and a growing hospitality group, Tasha Belle Cyril has firmly established herself as an essential voice in Atlanta's culinary landscape.
Apt 4B and J'ouvert aren't just restaurants; they're cultural destinations. They're places where the Caribbean diaspora feels at home, where Atlanta locals discover new flavors, where tourists experience authentic island culture, and where Black excellence is celebrated through ownership, curation, and exceptional service.
"What makes our businesses special is our intentionality," Tasha reflects. "From the atmosphere to the menus, we aim to create experiences that feel elevated while still deeply rooted in culture, comfort, and genuine hospitality."
