McBride Sisters Collection Reserve Gamay "Rebels" Central Otago, New Zealand 2021

Transport to Aotearoa New Zealand*, with the McBride Sisters Collection New Zealand Reserve Gamay "Rebels" where there are more than 25 million sheep roaming the land. Consistent to its demographics, a small percentage of sheep in Aotearoa are black, similar to how the McBride Sisters felt when first building the company. The Reserve Gamay is dedicated to finding success by breaking the rules.
The grapes are from a single vineyard in Bannockburn, a sub-region of Central Otago, and were hand harvested and destemmed prior to fermentation with wild yeast. The wine was hand plunged and aged in 60% neutral French oak barrels and 40% stainless steel tanks. It's unfined and unfiltered.
A vibrant dry wine, this complex expression of Gamay has a bright ruby color and a savory black pepper element underpinning its fruit-forward core.
"From the beginning, Robin and I rebelled against the status quo of ‘how the industry works.’ This Reserve Gamay is an ode to the rebels who see things differently." - Andréa McBride John
