Get ready for zingy citrus, plush stone fruit, and cool minerality in one luscious package.
This mind-bending blend of Grenache Blanc, Viognier and Marsanne hails from the ancient seabeds of Paso Robles. The shale and limestone soils here remind us of the southern Rhône Valley in France, where these grape varieties have thrived for centuries. Paso’s rolling hillsides let them soak up all the sun they need, but ocean breezes from the Pacific cool off the evenings – keeping fruit flavors fresh and structured. Grenache Blanc provides the acid backbone and drive of the blend. Aromatic Viognier shares its full body and floral and apricot notes, while Marsanne brings a slate-like character to the finish.
Peach, apple, apricot, tangerine and Meyer lemon meld in a seamless mouthful, with a touch of salt and earth on the finish. Creamy textures and firm acidity make this versatile wine one you’ll reach for again and again.
“Growing up an ocean apart in Monterey, California and Marlborough, Aotearoa New Zealand, Andréa and I were fascinated by Abalone shells, called Pāua in Māori, that could be found near our childhood homes. The label art pays tribute to these iridescent and vibrant shells, and the unique soil of the vineyards for our Reserve White Wine, which were once an ocean floor. This Reserve tastes like the moment you come back home, no matter how far you came.”
