Consistent to its demographics, a small percentage of sheep in Aotearoa are black, similar to how the McBride Sisters felt when first building the company. The Reserve Gamay is dedicated to finding success by breaking the rules. 

The grapes are from a single vineyard in Bannockburn, a sub-region of Central Otago, and were hand harvested and destemmed prior to fermentation with wild yeast. The wine was hand plunged and aged in 60% neutral French oak barrels and 40% stainless steel tanks. It's unfined and unfiltered. 

Bright and generous purple-ruby color.  Aromas rise from the glass with fresh raspberry, strawberry, and pomegranate, followed by subtler aromas of earth and lavender.  Vibrant fruit flavors of fresh raspberry and strawberry carry through on the dry, refined palate.  This is a complex expression of Gamay that has a savory, peppery, and almost meaty element underpinning its fruit forward character.  Well balanced with a long finish.
